End of Summer Celebrations
After completing this year's reading challenge, the library wants to invite you to party at one of our End of Summer Celebrations hosted at all library locations. Enjoy live performances for ages 0-18. Please visit your local branch and ask a staff member to register you for this event.
Beginning July 13, youth ages 0-18 who have completed 300 minutes and logged their reading in Beanstack or on a paper reading tracker can come to any branch and pick up a goodie bag (while supplies last).
Here's what to do:
- Youth ages 0-18 work towards earning a goodie bag by reading or being read to and tracking their minutes using Beanstack or a paper reading tracker.
- Beanstack: Participants will receive an email once they have logged 300 minutes (5 hours). Present the email to library staff at any location to get your goodie bag.
- Reading Tracker: Once participants have logged 300 minutes (5 hours) by marking their paper tracker, they can bring it to any library branch, and staff will give them a goodie bag!
Only youth ages 0-18 are eligible to receive a goodie bag. Only one goodie bag per child while supplies last.
Does your child or teen want a chance to win an amazing prize? Then, encourage your child to complete the Summer Reading Challenge! Youth ages 0-18 who log 600 minutes (10 hours) of reading or being read to by July 28 at 6 p.m. can be entered into the prize drawing for each age group. Exciting prizes include Nintendo Switch Lites, iPads, tablets, art sets, science kits, and more!
Here's how to enter:
- Log at least 600 minutes by July 28, 6 p.m.
- The reader may visit their local branch and ask a library staff member to register them for the Grand Prize Drawing by presenting their library card and showing their Beanstack badge for completing the Summer at Your Library reading challenge or by presenting their completed paper reading tracker.
Contest Rules
- Beanstack users: All reading minutes must be logged by July 28. Minutes logged after this date will not count toward prize-winning eligibility. Remember to make sure the reader’s library card is linked to their Beanstack account.
- Paper reading tracker users: The tracker must be fully filled out and turned in by July 28, 6 p.m., for entry into the grand prize drawing. No reading trackers will be accepted after that time, but participants are welcome to submit their paper reading tracker earlier than that.
- Participants are eligible to win up to one grand prize by completing the Beanstack challenge or submitting a paper reading tracker by July 28, 6 p.m. Youth Services will facilitate the Grand Prizes. Only winners will be contacted by email or phone.
- Only participants ages 0-18 are eligible to enter the Grand Prize Giveaway. 18-year-olds must choose to participate in either the Youth Summer Reading Challenge or the Adult Summer Reading Challenge. An Orange County library card in good standing is required to win - including property owner and fee cards. One entry per person. Reciprocal borrowers, OCLS staff, or members of their household, including board members, are ineligible. Participants can win one prize each.
