Orange County Library System is pleased to offer a variety of library card accounts. Select the card in the list below that you are interested in learning more about.
Available for Orange County Residents 18 and older.
To Apply Online:
- To register for a library card online, go to https://ocls.org/resident-card to complete the online form.
- You must be at least 18 years of age to apply online.
To Apply in Person:
- Visit any of our Orange County Library locations to register for a library card in person.
- An appropriate ID is required for online registration.
- If your Florida Driver’s License or Florida State ID lists a P.O. Box or any address other than your correct residential street address, additional identification is required. You may present a current property tax receipt for real property, a current utility, cable, or home telephone bill, or a current bank statement that is in your name and has the correct residential street address.
- If you do not have a Florida Driver’s License or Florida State ID, you may present a current Driver’s License or State ID from another U.S. State, a U.S. Military Identification, a Passport, a United States Permanent Resident card, a Consulate Identification card, or Farmworker’s Association Membership card.
Available for Orange County Residents 17 and under.
To Apply Online:
- To register for a library card online, go to https://ocls.org/resident-card to complete the online form.
- Child must be 17 years old or younger.
To Apply in Person:
- Visit any of our Orange County Library locations to register for a library card in person.
- A parent or legal guardian may visit any Orange County Library location with appropriate ID to obtain a card for a child 17 or under.
- If the parent/guardian’s Florida Driver’s License or Florida State ID lists a P.O. Box or any address other than their correct residential street address, additional identification is required. The parent/guardian may present a current property tax receipt for real property, a current utility, cable, or home telephone bill, or a current bank statement that is in their name and has the correct residential street address.
- If the parent/guardian does not have a Florida Driver’s License or Florida State ID, you may present a current Driver’s License or State ID from another U.S. State, a U.S. Military Identification, a Passport, a United States Permanent Resident card, a Consulate Identification card, or a Farmworker’s Association Membership card.
- A parent or legal guardian must sign and accept financial responsibility for the child’s library card privileges.
- Cards are issued for four years or until the juvenile card holder turns 18. At that time the juvenile card holder is eligible for an adult card. Before that card may be issued, all fees and fines must be paid in full on an existing juvenile account.
Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) educators and currently enrolled students are automatically registered for a virtual library account.
- A parent or legal guardian is not required for the juvenile’s library card account privileges.
- No fines or fees will accrue, as this type of account doesn’t provide checking out of library materials or registration for classes or events.
Available to owners of property within Orange County, except in the city of Winter Park and city of Maitland.
To Apply in Person:
- Visit any of our Orange County Library locations to register for a Property Owner Card in person.
- Individuals who own property and are personally named on a Current Property Tax Receipt are entitled to free library service upon presentation of the current tax receipt and a photo identification. The tax receipt must be for a property within the Library District.
- The individual eligible for the card may then identify residents in their household who may be eligible to receive cards for that same service period.
- This identification must be presented every four years.
Fee cards are available to anyone residing outside of our service area.
Privileges:
- Access to our circulating material on the shelf
- Remote access to databases
- Ability to take free technology classes in person or online
- Access to computer use in any of our locations
- Ability to place holds on ebooks
- Ability to place holds on items
- Reserve a meeting room or Main Library study room
- Access to Melrose Center computers and resources (access credentials for Studios, Simulators, and Fab Lab equipment required)
Fee cards are non-refundable and are available for 3 months ($75) or for one year ($125).

Reciprocal borrower cards are available to those residing in the city of Winter Park or Maitland.
Reciprocal Borrowing Privileges Include:
- Visiting any of our locations and checking out circulating materials that are on the shelf, but do not include access to e-books, databases, public computers, and the ability to place holds on items.

To Obtain a Reciprocal Borrower Card in Person:
- Visit any of our Orange County Library locations to register for a library card in person.
- Please present a valid Florida Driver’s License or Florida Identification Card showing your correct residential street address. Library staff will verify that you have a valid and in good standing library card with Winter Park or Maitland.
- Reciprocal cards are valid for four years.
Out-of-District Residents interested in accessing the Melrose Center only will receive a Melrose Card after attending the General Orientation. Take the Melrose Center General Orientation by visiting https://ocls.org/melrosego.
Registration Requirements
Appropriate ID
Present your valid Florida Driver’s License or Florida State Identification, showing your correct name and residential street address within our Library District. If your Florida Driver’s License or Florida State Identification lists a P.O. Box or any address other than your correct residential street address, additional identification is required. You may present one of the following items that is in your name and has the correct residential street address on it for consideration:
- Current Property Tax Receipt for Real Property
- Current home telephone, cable, or utility bill with service address
- Current bank statement
If you do not have a Florida Driver’s License or Florida State Identification, you may present a current Driver’s License or State Identification from another U.S. State, a U.S. Military Identification, a Passport, a United States Permanent Resident card, a Consulate Identification card, or Farmworker’s Association Membership card.
Photos
We can place your photo in our system as an added tool for identity. The pictures are not to be considered an absolute deterrent against others using your card. You are responsible to provide us with immediate notice if you lose your card.
If you register for your card in person, we can place your photo in the system at the time of registration. If you receive your card through the mail after registering online, we can add the photo at your request when you visit any OCLS location.
