The Orlando Public Library Fall Book Sale, hosted by the Friends of the Library, is happening this weekend as scheduled. 

On June 12, the Orlando Public Library took a page out of the books of sister institutions from San Francisco to Brooklyn and scheduled a Drag Queen story hour.

Ten branches will host Soilar Eclipse Viewing Parties with free safe-viewing glasses while supplies last.

On Monday, Aug. 21, 10 public library branches will host Solar Eclipse Viewing Parties, with free glasses available to attendees (while supplies last).

With assistance from the Orlando Magic and Florida Blue, more kids are aware of the benefits of reading and storytelling. They partnered up to celebrate the Orange County Library Systems (OCLS) Summer Reading Program, which helps engage local students in literacy and learning.

Kids of all ages got to learn about and come face to face with some cool, creepy creatures.

The poet laureate will be chosen from three finalists selected by a committee made up of local poets and literary experts from the University of Central Florida, Valencia College, Rollins College, Orange County Library System, Burrow Press and the Florida Humanities Council. 

The daylong event at the downtown public library is dedicated to all things books and includes panels, writing workshops, book signings and the chance to see best-selling authors. 

Choose your house: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw or Slytherin and show off your colors, answer trivia questions and enjoy cool crafts when the Orlando Public Library presents Potterversary.

For one day only, the library will be transformed into the literary universe of Harry Potter, with various departments representing scenes from the beloved books.
