The city of Orlando is nearing construction on a project in Lake Nona that would include a library and a city building housing an Orlando Police Department substation, community meeting space and city services.

One of the areas students can struggle with over the summer is literacy. OCLS Assistant Director/COO Bethany Stone talks about how students can practice literacy while on break.

Melrose Center offers variety of services

For the second summer in a row, the downtown library will be the site of a free music festival.

It got loud in the library (on purpose!) over the weekend when Orlandoans crowded into the downtown library to check out the second Melrose Pop Festival.

The library system offers free classes and resources to help improve communication.

“Growing up in Eatonville, it’s full of culture. Eatonville in and of itself is historic so there’s a lot of value in the community,” fifth-generation Eatonville native Ruthi Critton said.

Yarnfiti is an annual installation that includes knitting, crocheting, sewing, embroidery, and more.

The six-week series will get the youngest students ready for school in the fall.
