Summer at Your Library 2026
Participate in Orange County Library System's annual Summer at Your Library. Gather around to explore fun activities and events at a branch near you! Programs, classes and events will continue to be offered both in-person and online. Registration starts on Friday, May 1.
How to participate in the reading challenge
For youth ages 0-18, kicking off your summer reading journey is as easy as 1, 2, 3!
- Youth ages 0-18 can register for the Summer at Your Library reading challenge beginning Monday, June 1 by picking up a paper reading tracker at any OCLS location.
- Those who have registered for the Summer at Your Library reading challenge through the paper reading tracker may receive one free book beginning Monday, June 1 at any OCLS location, while supplies last.
Early Learners (ages 0-5)
- Talk, sing, read, write, or play each day and track progress through the paper tracker.
- Do at least one early literacy skill a day to reach the 30-day goal!
- Complete the optional Bonus Challenge for an extra chance to win a grand prize.
- Looking for your new book to read? Explore your love for reading with a book from the Best Books of 2025: Youth List.
Kids and Teens (ages 6-18)
- Read any book(s) of your choice and track days read through the paper tracker.
- Track your reading progress for 30 days to complete the challenge!
- Complete the optional Bonus Challenge for an extra chance to win a grand prize.
- Looking for your new book to read? Explore your love for reading with a book from the Best Books of 2025: Youth List.
Your reading journey can lead to some sweet rewards!
- Starting July 1, youth ages 0-18 who complete the 30-day reading challenge can visit their local branch for a goody bag, while supplies last, and can enter the Youth Grand Prize Giveaway.*
- Complete the bonus activities for an extra chance to win a grand prize!
- The deadline to submit a grand prize entry form is Sunday, July 26, 6 p.m.
- Don't forget to celebrate your reading success at one of the End of Summer Celebrations!

*Only participants ages 0-18 are eligible to enter. One grand prize and one bonus entry per person. Only Orange County resident, property owner, or fee cards are eligible to win. Reciprocal borrowers, OCLS Staff and family, including board members, are ineligible.
Sign up for an OCLS card or visit any of our Orange County Library locations to register for a library card in person.
Summer fun for everyone!
Ages 0-5
Early Learners will have a blast with storytimes and activities that make learning fun! Learn, grow and connect with engaging preschool programs designed for the littlest learners.
Ages 6-12
Kids will be motivated to learn, explore and create all summer long. Participate in experiences through which children can work cooperatively and make new friends.
Ages 13-18
Teens will experience positive interactions with their peers. Register for science, art and environmentally friendly events!
Adults 18+
Adults can learn, grow and connect with the library this summer through a variety of virtual and in-person events.
Melrose Center
Programming from the Melrose Center includes photo, video, maker, performing arts and digital design classes, teaching adults and teens to engage, create and innovate.
Technology Classes
Get techie with it! Show friends and family just how savvy you are after taking fun and exciting technology classes this summer! Options are available for kids, teens and adults.

Chickasaw Branch (Chickasaw - Stage)

Dive in and meet rare, threatened and endangered species. Learn about interesting animals that can be found throughout different lands and animal conservation. Recommended for ages 6-12.
