September is National Library Card Signup Month, and this year we’re trying something new. One of our talented graphic designers has created a beautiful new library card design that we’re releasing for a limited run starting this month.
We’re still feeling inspired by our 100 Year Celebration, so the new design is a throwback to the days when Orange County was at the center of the citrus industry and our library was just getting off the ground. You can get this special edition card starting September 1 at any library location by signing up for a new card or renewing your existing one. You’ll get your choice of our 100 Year Celebration design or our new orange blossom card, while supplies last. You have to come to the library in person to get one, and we’ll only have these until our stock runs out, so get them while you can!
This month, we’re also giving you a sneak peek at a whole new look for OCLS. We’ve made some major changes to how we do things in the past several years. For example, we’ve eliminated fines for overdue materials, made it easier than ever to sign up for a card, reinvigorated our focus on outreach and made the library more accessible to people in our community. We’ve had the same look and logo for more than 20 years, so we thought it was time for an update to reflect our new approach to library service.
On September 13, we’ll reveal the library’s new logo to you on social media. Starting October 1, the new look is what you’ll see on our website, social media and printed materials. We’ll be spending some time getting all of our public-facing materials updated, but we want to give you a sneak peek at our fresh new look before we officially flip the switch.
We’ll have more exciting news to share when we get a little bit closer to October, too, so if you’re not following us on social media already, give us a follow on Facebook or Instagram, where you can keep up with the most up-to-date library news and information.
It’s an exciting time for OCLS, and we can’t wait to show you what we have in store!
