Roll out with the Transformers for Library Card Sign-up Month

September is National Library Card Sign-up Month and this year Optimus Prime, Orange County Library System (OCLS) and the American Library Association (ALA) invite you to celebrate by rolling out to your library and signing up for a library card.

Just like the Transformers, there’s more than meets the eye at OCLS and you can take advantage of all the materials, resources and programs available for free with your library card.

“Library cards open worlds of opportunity for Autobots and humans alike. Whether or not your favorite genre is science fiction, library cards spark creativity and inspire critical thinking skills. Join Optimus Prime, who I’m told is a huge library fan, and check out your local library,” said ALA President Emily Drabinksi.

Did you know OCLS offers free access to a wide variety of databases including Brainfuse for homework help, LinkedIn Learning for continuing education and career development, and a variety of Gale learning and research resources? Have you checked out our classes and programs available including technology, fiber arts, hobbies, language learning and makerspaces? Visit the Learning & Research section to learn more.

To help spread OCLS and Optimus Prime’s message of respect and inclusivity and love of libraries, OCLS is teaming up with local comic and record shops – Coliseum of Comics Millenia, Epic Comics, Gods & Monsters, Park Ave CDS, and West Orange Comics and Video Games – for a special giveaway. When you visit these shops, scan the QR code and enter to a win an ALA Transformers “Roll Out with a Library Card” poster or a “Reading Comics is Reading” tote bag.

Autobots, roll out…to the library!
