National Library Week is here! It’s an annual celebration of all the amazing ways libraries enhance their communities. This year’s theme is “Find Your Joy,” an enthusiastic invitation for everyone to appreciate what brings them joy at the library.

How can you find your joy at OCLS? We’ve compiled a list to help you celebrate!

Visit Your Local Branch

And bring a friend! We have 15 locations plus two more on the way. Or, come see us at a pop-up event or visit the Book Bike as it cruises through the county. And we have something even bigger rolling out to your neighborhood soon, so stay tuned!

Check Out Something Cool

We have books, movies and more available in our catalog – but did you know there’s even more to discover at your library? You can check out Orange County’s local arts and culture scene with a Local Wanderer pass, which provides tickets to local museums, concerts and more, free with your library card. Don’t know where to start? You can peruse a display in your branch or join a book club curated by our knowledgeable staff. If you’re too busy to pop in, we’ve got you: use the OCLS app on your phone to request home delivery to get library materials right to your doorstep in one of our iconic blue bags of happiness.

Learn Something New!

OCLS has some amazing classes and events, which you can check out via Books and Beyond, our monthly magazine, or online on our events calendarResearch and learning resources for youth and adults are available online so you can teach yourself a new skill, level up your hobby or chase a new passion anywhere. Summer at Your Library is coming up to help you beat the heat with fun activities for the whole family. The Melrose Center offers learning courses for fresh tech from game development and video editing to 3D printing and podcasting.

All this and more is free with just your library card, one card with unlimited value. Don’t forget to spread the word throughout this week – library joy is contagious! And if you’d like to go the extra mile to support your library, you can always make a donation to the Friends of the Orange County Library System. Support from our Friends makes all the good things that happens at the library even better.

Happy National Library Week from OCLS. Whether you find your joy in our pages, our places, or our people, thank you for using your library. We’re here for you!
