Preschool Fun: Snowmen!

Preschool Fun: Snowmen!

Do you want to build a snowman? I do! Let’s go have some fun!

These activities are based on Every Child Ready to Read, which helps our friends learn pre-reading skills. We’ll cover Reading, Writing, Talking, Singing and Playing.

TALKING:

  • What color are snowmen?
  • What are they made from?
  • What is on their heads?

READING:

Read any book you have that mentions snowmen. If you don’t have one, request one, such as Froggy Builds a Snowman. Or, you can try a digital title such as Building a Snowman. You can also celebrate everyone’s favorite snowman with I Am Olaf! We’ll also make our own snowman book at the end.

PLAYING:

Let’s play my snowman! Call out different features on a snowman, and have your child point to where they go. Such as:

My snowman needs a hat! (points to head)

My snowman needs a carrot nose! (points to nose)

My snowman needs a scarf! (point to neck)

And so on! Keep adding, and then repeat!

SINGING:

To the tune of I’m a Little Teapot, you can sing I’m a Little Snowman!

I’m a little snowman short and round

Made from little snowflakes that fell to the ground

I have three buttons 1, 2, 3

I am the happiest snowman you see

I’m a little snowman short and round

Made from little snowflakes that fell to the ground

I have two eyes and a carrot for a nose

I am the happiest snowman you know.

LEARNING:

Snowmen come from snow! Do you know where snow comes from? Learn a little bit about snow on one of our online databases!

WRITING:

Make your own snow book!

  • Staple papers together and have each page represent a different action.
  • Write (or have your child write) how many snowman are on each page. (One snowman, two snowmen.)
  • Illustrate! Draw or cut out pictures for each page.
