One of the benefits of social media is being able to find people with the same interest as you, and, let’s face it, reading can often feel like a solitary habit. Type “bookstagram” into the search bar on Instagram and you’ll uncover a worldwide bibliophile community that not only embraces reading but does so with panache. Below is but a sampling of our favorites.
If you love books, you doubtless are guilty of having unread books on your shelf. Impulse buys, gifts, or thousand-plus-page tomes – they look pretty but wouldn’t it feel better to be able to point to them and say you read them? Whitney has you covered with unread book challenges and bingo.
Sarah Kamya, a school counselor from New York City, sought harbor in her hometown of Arlington, Massachusetts during the pandemic. She noticed a lack of diversity in the little free libraries she encountered. After putting out a successful call for donations, Sarah began placing books by and about people of color in these little libraries, and the project has now spread to all 50 states.
Kevin Sell has been a book dealer for more than a decade, specializing in rare books. He uses his gram to sell the books, so collectors will enjoy it, but it’s also a great spot for those of us who geek out over book covers.

In addition to giving access to free resources, libraries are inspiring physical spaces usually serving as landmarks in their city.
