Every new year is an opportunity to learn, grow and connect to the world around you – a chance to set new goals and look forward to the future.
The start of the new year is exciting, but it can also be overwhelming. Whether you’ve got a list of resolutions a mile long, or you have a specific thing you’d like to accomplish, it can be hard to stay on track unless you have the resources and support to keep you focused. That’s where the Orange County Library System comes in!
If you haven’t done so lately, spend some time on our website or visit our Facebook page – you’ll find that your library card gives you access to tools that can help you accomplish so many things. We’ve got resources to help you set up an LLC, determine the right mix of investments for your financial portfolio, learn a new language and so much more. Some of the resources available for free to library cardholders include:
• Morningstar Investment Research Center: Find comprehensive information on thousands of investment indexes, stocks and mutual funds.
• Great Courses: Check out fascinating educational courses taught by award-winning professors through this streaming video service.
• Sewing, knitting and crochet classes: Make new friends and learn a new craft with fun classes and meetups at one of our 16 library locations.
• Photography, video and audio studios: The Melrose Center at the Orlando Public Library has fully equipped studios you can check out with your Melrose membership. Don’t know how to use the equipment? No problem – our top-notch instructors teach classes that will help you develop all the skills you need to cut an album, shoot a movie or capture a perfect portrait.
Maybe you haven’t made a New Year’s resolution but you’d still like to make 2019 the best it can be. If that’s the case, I have a suggestion: Make it your resolution to spend some more time at the library. Just walking through the door is the first step on your path to a brighter future. Happy New Year, happy new you!
