Parents, we know it can be tough to keep your kids busy when school’s out of session. So, our staff has come up with a series of fun, creative spring camps to help beat the boredom. This month, we’ll host programming at multiple locations during spring break that’ll give your kids a chance to sample sewing, space exploration, robot-building and more. There’s something for kids, teens and tweens, and this is just a sampling of what we have to offer:

For elementary school kids, some of our branches will offer LEGO WeDo Camps, that teach children ages 7–9 to build and program LEGO projects using a simple computer interface and help them understand how technology plays a role in our day-to-day lives.

We’ll also offer a Space Explorers Camp for children and tweens that will teach kids about the solar system through virtual reality and interactive experiences.

For teens, we’re offering It’s Sew Easy camps that will teach the sewing skills needed to sew your own Hogwarts House Robe, tote bag or a pencil case. Kids who attend will learn all they need to know to start sewing like a pro.

This month, we also bring back the Orlando Book Festival, our annual celebration of books, authors and reading. As always, we’ll have breakout sessions featuring local, regional and national authors talking about the craft and business of writing, as well as book signings, presentations and meet-and-greets. We’ll also have keynote speeches from New York Times bestselling authors Dhonielle Clayton and Tim Dorsey. Clayton, author of The Belles and Chief Operating Officer of the nonprofit organization We Need Diverse Books, will open the day with a keynote talk at 10 a.m. The always-entertaining Dorsey, whose newest title is Naked Came the Florida Man, presents our closing keynote at 2 p.m. All of the authors participating in the day’s events will sign books and meet fans from 3–4:30 p.m. Hope to see you there!
