Summer Fun at Your Library is One Tap Away
It’s easier than ever to unlock all your library card has to offer with our new mobile app, now available for download in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Our new OCLS app makes it easy for customers to sign up for classes and events, download books, reserve a room or meeting space and even check out books while browsing through the library’s stacks. Caregivers will enjoy the ease of toggling through separate accounts all in one place, and the app also allows you to add your card to your phone’s mobile wallet. I hope you will download this free resource and explore all we have to offer. You can find it in your app store by searching Orange County Library System.
Your OCLS library card is a gateway to innovation and education, no matter your age, and summer is a great time to explore ways to get the most from your card. We offer programming and storytimes for young children that build and develop early literacy skills. As children grow, so do our offerings for them: STEM and study help, movement and music, authors and art for kids, tweens and teens. But learning shouldn’t stop with school years and our commitment to your lifelong learning, creative pursuits and cultural opportunities continues to grow.
Looking to upskill for your current or future career? LinkedIn Learning offers online, on-demand classes and certificate programs for professionals and Learning Express has test prep and practice exams for professional licenses or certificates from teaching and firefighting to law enforcement and real estate. Want to learn to fix your own car? Chilton Library has step-by-step instructions for car repairs on dozens of makes and hundreds of models. These resources and many more can be accessed at ocls.org and all are free with your library card.
Join us for a free day at Harry P. Leu Gardens on July 7 as we celebrate 20 years of storytimes in the gardens with a fun-filled, family-friendly event. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., guests can enjoy a variety of engaging activities, explore the garden grounds, and experience the Origami in the Garden exhibit. We’ll have a StoryWalk for you to enjoy, you can visit our Book Bike and complete an origami activity.
Our Summer at Your Library program is still going strong; this month, kids who have logged 600 minutes in our Summer Reading Challenge may visit any of our 15 locations to pick up a prize bag and register for one of our End of Summer Celebrations. If you haven’t had a chance to see one of our great presenters or attend a program this summer, I hope you will make the time. There’s always something new to see at your library.
